Service overview

What a Rusupo BoilerInstallation Actually Includes

A boiler installation is far more than swapping one appliance for another. It is a survey of how your home uses heat and hot water, a decision on the right boiler type and output, the gas supply and flue work that makes it safe, the system cleaning that protects it, and the commissioning and certification that keeps the manufacturer's warranty valid. Rusupo Heating and Plumbing Ltd handles all of that with one Gas Safe registered engineer, Matt Anderson, rather than splitting the job between a salesperson and a fitter you have never spoken to.

As a Vaillant Advanced Installer, we can offer up to a 10-year manufacturer's warranty on new Vaillant boiler installations. That status is granted to installers by the manufacturer, and it matters to you in a practical way: the longest warranty terms are only available through accredited installers, and they only stay valid if the boiler is installed and commissioned to the manufacturer's instructions and serviced annually. Every installation also carries our own 6-month workmanship guarantee on top of the manufacturer's cover.

Pricing is fixed and quoted up front. We price on the difficulty of the job rather than an open-ended hourly rate, so the number you are given is the number you pay unless you ask us to change the scope. Quotes are free and typically turned around within 24 hours of looking at the job.

Why professional help matters

  • Gas work on a boiler is notifiable and legally restricted to Gas Safe registered engineers, registration 638860 covers our domestic gas pipework, boilers, water heaters and combustion analysis work.
  • Boiler output must be matched to the heat loss and hot water demand of the property. An oversized boiler short-cycles, wears faster and costs more to run; an undersized one never keeps up.
  • Gas supply pipework, flue position, condensate routing, ventilation and system cleanliness all have to be right, or the warranty is void and the appliance is unsafe.
  • Commissioning with a flue gas analyser and a completed benchmark record is what registers the warranty and proves the appliance is burning correctly.

Who this is for

  • Homeowners with a boiler that keeps breaking down or is no longer economical to repair
  • Anyone moving from an old back boiler, floor-standing or open-vented system to a modern condensing boiler
  • Households where hot water pressure or heat-up time no longer matches how the house is used
  • Landlords who need a compliant, documented installation with a proper warranty trail
  • Buyers of a property where the existing boiler has no service history and no warranty left

When it is needed

  • Repair costs are stacking up and parts are becoming harder to source
  • The boiler is losing pressure, short-cycling or locking out repeatedly
  • Radiators are slow to warm and the boiler is working far harder than it should
  • You are extending the house or adding a bathroom and demand has outgrown the current output
  • You want the work done in summer rather than in the middle of a cold snap

The cost of waiting

What Happens When a BoilerReplacement Gets Put Off

An ageing boiler rarely fails politely. It fails on the coldest weekend of the year, when demand for engineers is at its highest and parts merchants are shut. The immediate consequence is no heating and no hot water; the secondary consequence is that you make a rushed decision under pressure, on price alone, with whoever can attend fastest.

There is a cost side too. A boiler that short-cycles, runs at the wrong flow temperature or is fighting a system full of sludge burns more gas for the same warmth. Every winter you keep it, you pay for that inefficiency in fuel while also paying for repeat repairs on parts that are already at the end of their service life.

The safety side is the one that matters most. Poor combustion, a compromised flue or blocked ventilation can produce carbon monoxide, which you cannot see or smell. That is precisely what combustion analysis at commissioning and annual servicing are designed to catch, and it is why gas work is legally restricted to Gas Safe registered engineers.

Common mistakes we see

  • Buying on headline price alone and discovering the system flush, filter and controls were never included
  • Letting an unregistered fitter carry out gas work, which voids insurance and leaves you with no valid certificate
  • Fitting a new boiler onto a dirty system, so debris blocks the heat exchanger within a season
  • Skipping the annual service and quietly invalidating a 10-year warranty in year two
  • Choosing a combi for a house with several bathrooms without checking the incoming mains flow rate first

Our process

How We HandleBoiler Installations

  1. 01

    Survey and system assessment

We look at the property, the existing system, the gas supply, the flue route and how you actually use heating and hot water, including mains flow rate where a combi is being considered.

  2. 02

Fixed written quote within 24 hours

You get a free, itemised fixed quote setting out the boiler, controls, cleaning, flue and any pipework changes. Priced on the job, not the clock, with no obligation.

  3. 03

Installation by a Gas Safe engineer

Old appliance removed, new boiler and flue fitted, gas supply checked and upgraded if required, condensate routed correctly, and the system cleaned and dosed with inhibitor.

  4. 04

    Commissioning and combustion testing

The boiler is commissioned to the manufacturer's instructions, combustion checked with a flue gas analyser, controls set up and the benchmark record completed so the warranty is valid.

  5. 05

    Handover, guarantee and registration

We walk you through the controls, leave the paperwork, register the manufacturer's warranty, and back the work with our 6-month workmanship guarantee.

In detail

Boiler InstallationsExplained Properly

Combi, system or heat-only: choosing the right boiler type

A combi boiler heats water on demand and needs no cylinder or tanks, which suits flats and houses with one bathroom and a good incoming mains flow rate. Its weakness is simultaneous demand: run a shower and a kitchen tap together on a weak main and both suffer. That is why we measure flow and pressure at survey rather than assuming.

A system boiler works with an unvented or vented hot water cylinder and is the better answer for homes with two or more bathrooms, or where several people shower in the same half hour. Stored hot water gives you flow rate that a combi cannot match, at the cost of cylinder space and a reheat cycle.

A heat-only (regular) boiler keeps the traditional feed and expansion arrangement and is often used when a property is being upgraded in stages, or where the existing pipework and cylinder are staying. Converting from heat-only to combi or system is entirely possible and something we quote for regularly across Essex and Suffolk.

Materials, flue routes and gas supply

Installations are made up in copper with appropriate fittings, with isolation valves at the boiler so future servicing and repairs do not mean draining the system. A magnetic system filter is standard practice on our installs: it captures the iron oxide that circulates in every heating system and is the single cheapest way to protect a new heat exchanger.

Flue routing is dictated by the manufacturer's instructions and the position of openings, boundaries and adjacent surfaces. Horizontal, vertical and extended runs are all possible; what matters is that terminal clearances are correct and the flue is accessible for inspection. Condensate must discharge safely, and where it runs externally it is sized and insulated to reduce freezing risk in winter.

Gas supply is checked for pipe size and working pressure at full rate. Many older properties have a supply that was adequate for a small back boiler and is not adequate for a modern high-output combi. Where an upgrade is needed we quote it before the day, not as a surprise mid-installation.

System cleaning, controls and smart heating

Fitting a new boiler onto an unclean system is one of the fastest ways to void a warranty. Depending on the condition of the existing system we will either chemically clean and flush it or carry out a full powerflush, then dose with inhibitor and fit a filter. Where radiators are heavily sludged, powerflushing is usually the more effective route and we will say so at survey.

Controls are part of the installation, not an afterthought. Correct programming, room thermostat placement and thermostatic radiator valves let the boiler modulate down and condense properly, which is where the efficiency of a modern appliance actually comes from. On our current Summer Boiler Deal, every boiler installation includes a free Hive smart thermostat worth £129.99 plus the first year's service free.

Smart control also gives you remote operation and scheduling, which is genuinely useful for households with irregular hours or for keeping a property just warm enough while it is empty.

Where we install boilers

We install boilers across Essex and Suffolk, including Braintree, Colchester, Kelvedon, Tiptree, Feering, Halstead, Sudbury, Sible Hedingham and Coggeshall, working from our base at Earls Colne. That is a deliberately tight patch: it is what allows us to get back to warranty and service calls quickly rather than treating installations as one-off transactions.

Property types across this area vary enormously, from period cottages with single-pipe legacy systems and awkward flue routes to modern estates where the constraint is cupboard space rather than pipework. Both are routine work for us, and both are surveyed before a price is given.

Questions

Boiler InstallationsQuestions Answered

Something not covered here? Call 07984 042373: the 24-hour line is usually answered personally by Matt.

How much does a new boiler installation cost in Essex?

Every installation is quoted individually because the price depends on boiler type and output, whether the system is being converted, the flue route, gas supply size and the state of the existing system. We give a free fixed quote, priced on the difficulty of the job rather than an hourly rate, typically within 24 hours of looking at the work, so you have a firm figure before committing to anything.

How long does it take to fit a new boiler?

A straightforward like-for-like replacement is usually a single-day job. Conversions, heat-only to combi, relocating the boiler, or adding a new flue route, commonly run to two days. Your quote states the expected duration so you can plan around being without heating and hot water for that window.

What warranty do I get on a new boiler?

As a Vaillant Advanced Installer we can offer up to a 10-year manufacturer's warranty on new Vaillant boiler installations. The warranty is registered by us at commissioning, and all our work also carries a 6-month workmanship guarantee.

Does the warranty require an annual service?

Yes. Manufacturer warranties are conditional on the boiler being serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer and the service being recorded. Missing a service is the most common reason a long warranty stops being honoured, which is why our Summer Boiler Deal includes the first year's service free.

How long should a new boiler last?

A correctly sized, annually serviced boiler on a clean, inhibited system that has a magnetic filter fitted should give you many years of reliable service well beyond its warranty period. The variables that shorten that life are system debris, no inhibitor, incorrect sizing and skipped servicing, all of which we address at installation.

Do I need a powerflush before a new boiler is fitted?

Not always. Where the existing system is in reasonable condition, a chemical clean and flush with inhibitor and a magnetic filter is enough. Where radiators are cold at the bottom, the water runs black, or the system has never been treated, a powerflush is the right call and we will tell you at survey rather than after installation.

Can you replace my boiler if it has failed completely?

Yes. We run genuine 24-hour emergency cover across Essex and Suffolk, calls are usually answered personally by Matt, and typical response is within the hour. If the boiler is beyond economical repair, we will tell you honestly and quote the replacement rather than charging you to chase a dead appliance.

Can you move the boiler to a different room?

In most cases yes: a relocation is a common part of a boiler upgrade, particularly moving from a kitchen to a utility, garage or loft. It affects gas run, flue route, condensate and pipework, so it is surveyed and priced specifically rather than estimated over the phone.

Do you install boilers in Braintree and Colchester?

Yes. We cover Braintree, Colchester, Kelvedon, Tiptree, Feering, Halstead, Sudbury, Sible Hedingham, Coggeshall and the surrounding Essex and Suffolk villages from our base in Earls Colne.

How do I pay for the installation?

Payment is currently by bank transfer, with card payments being introduced shortly. There are no hidden extras: the quoted fixed price is the price unless you ask us to change the scope of the work.
